India has been ranked Level 2 (exercise increased caution) while Pakistan has been places in Level 3 (reconsider travel).
Level 1 advises travellers to exercise normal precaution, while Level 4, which has countries like Afghanistan, recommends “Do Not Travel“.
Now every country has a travel advisory based on this system, which has replaced all the previous such advisories.
“These improvements will provide US citizens with clear, timely, and reliable safety and security information worldwide,” the State Department said.
Violent crime, such as sexual assault, has occurred at tourist sites and in other locations,” the new India travel advisory said.
US issues level two travel advisory for Jamaica
The United States Department of State has issued a level two travel advisory for Jamaica, telling its citizens to exercise increased caution in Jamaica due to crime.
It has advised them not to travel to Spanish Town and some areas of Kingston and Montego Bay.
It says it also includes Trench Town, Tivoli Gardens, and Arnett Gardens; Standpipe, Grants Pen, and Cassava Piece.
The US State Department says violent crimes, such as home invasions, armed robberies, and homicide, is common.
The State Department claims local police lack the resources to respond effectively to serious criminal incidents.
