The mosque is reputedly the oldest in China (built in the 14th century) and remains an active place of worship. The beautiful mihrab faces west so the faithful can turn to Mecca. If you’re there on a Friday afternoon after prayers, there are usually a few halal food stores selling lots o f yummy snacks.
